Michael J. Belzil joined the Flight Test Historical Foundation Board of Directors in 2007. He served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, retiring in the rank of colonel in June 2004. In his final assignment he served as the commander, 88th Air Base Wing, Aeronautical Systems Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Other assignments included commander, 95th Support Group, Edwards Air Force Base; flying duties as an instructor, electronic warfare, in the B-52; Headquarters U.S. Air Force Combat Operations Staff and Joint Staff duty at the Pentagon; and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) International Military Staff, Brussels, Belgium.

From June 2004 to April 2007 he served in civil service as the chief of staff, Air Force Flight Test Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Edwards Air Force Base, CA. He is currently employed as the Site Director for Security and Emergency Services at the legacy Skunk Works Plant 10, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, Palmdale, California.
